- DO NOT update firmware on your PS3 if you do not know exactly what you are doing. A "normal" update with official firmware obviously means that "custom firmware" disappears and the PS3 loses the opportunity to run homebrew, emulators, backup manager etc.

- Since Sony's online PSN service requires that you use absolutely the latest released firmware version and probably will ban banned consoles that have "custom firmware" installed, it is only in exceptional cases that you can connect a PS3 with "custom firmware" to play online etc. We do not recommend that you "drive online" and cannot promise that we can restore features that for some reason are removed due to updates or bans in the future.
