History:
The idea behind jailbreaking the popular game console was primarily to get a new opportunity to start "homebrew" - ie, self-developed unsigned code on the current console. A feature that many people lost from their console when the feature to install an alternate operating system was removed during one of the latest system upgrades. One of the first and most important applications was FTP SERVER, which made it possible to use its console for storing optional files in its home network. Of course, someone has written a version of the arcade game's ancestor PONG. Using this product on the current video game console risked:
- BAN / Suspension from online services / PSN
- The product's function ceases as soon as the console is updated. Updates can be installed when you go online, when you start a new game from disc or if you intentionally download an update and install from eg. a USB flash drive.
- You couldn't play newer games as they require updating before starting.
